Chris Isaacs was born and raised in Mesa. He attributes his early interest in poetry to a grade school teacher and his granny. His first publication in the mid 1960's, happened when a fellow marine sent one of Chris's poems home to Phoenix and it was later published in the Arizona Republic.

Isaacs has won many awards including three-time winner of the Academy of Western Artists Will Rogers' Award and the 2004 recipient of the Western Heritage Award. But, Isaacs is most proud of his recent award - the Gail I Gardner Award given by the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering to a cowboy who has upheld the traditions of cowboy poets.

Chris has worked many different aspects of the cowboy life. All of his experiences have provided him with a solid foundation for his poems and stories.
